SIMULACRA THE REALITY OF THE UNREAL

Simulacra: the Reality of the Unreal is a ‘found footage’ exercise with some image manipulation and looping . The central idea of the piece is to interrogate the most aired visual clichés in current history of warfare, terrorism, torture, nuclear anxiety and state surveillance in the lights of Baudrillardian concept of ‘hyper reality’. Our eyes and tastes are tamed and tuned by the ‘media reality’, which is “ more real than real”. The distinction between the real and its representation often collapses in the public realm of TV reality. The representation suspends the represented in the process of ‘producing meaning’ , signification and meaning becomes self-referential. The simulated image will be librated from the original and find an independent existence in the realm of interrelation of signification and meaning.  This video is  a carnival of chaotic images that mirrors on different windows, which unsettle the meaning of its original and  used overlapping, out off synch, and broken sound tracks in order to map the anachronism and make a sense of collapse in time and space.
